The word "sniping" is derived from the practice of an individual targeting a specific item and timing their bid to be placed within the last few seconds of the closing of the auction. Sniping can be done manually with an individual sitting at their computer, but automatic programs have also been created that allows a person to set his information and walk away. When the auction is about to close the program will submit the bid at the appropriate time. On eBay, this practice goes unchecked. If you've had your eye on an item and watched it go down to the final second with you as the leading bidder, only to discover someone outbid you with one or two seconds left, then you were a victim of sniping. Of course, when you are outbid with such little time remaining you have no chance of resubmitting another bid and the auction is over.
For the buyer it is frustrating. For the seller, it means that he has lost a possibly higher bidding customer.
Our Anti-sniping technology defeats the sniper by extending any auction where a bid is placed within the last two minutes of the auction closing. Should a bid be placed just before the auction closes the item will extend an additional two minutes for more bidding to be allowed. This prevents a sniper from stealing the auction and gives all potential buyers a chance to consider and place another bid. The auction will not close until the final two minutes elapses without another bid being placed.
If you are selling an item and want to be paid instantly online using Paypal or Google Checkout you must create an account with them. Each one of these methods will take a fee for their services. At one time Google Checkout offered a 1% rate, but that rate ended in May of 2009. Now both processors are exactly the same in fees. Most people can figure to be paying 2.9% plus the .30 cents for each transaction.
When you use Paypal or Google Checkout to process your sales, you can be charged rates as low as 1.9% + $0.30 per transaction, but this requires a high volume of sales revenue. Both have no monthly, setup, or gateway service fees.
Doing the following volume of business in the previous month will result in the following fees:
Monthly Sales
Fees Per Transaction
Less than $3,000
2.9% + $0.30
$3,000 - $9,999.99
2.5% + $0.30
$10,000 - $99,999.99
2.2% + $0.30
$100,000 or more

About Paypal and Google Checkout
Paypal is owned by eBay, which explains why they have barred all other forms of payment from their website. They not only charge you as much as 15% for selling your item (plus the inflated "special feature" fees), they also force you to use Paypal - adding another 3%+ to their take.
However, that being said, Paypal is the easiest of the two methods to use as a seller. For simplicity it wins over Google Checkout. Simply provide them with an email and your banking information, and you are set to go. Money you keep in Paypal can be used to pay for items you may purchase. It is the more widely used processor on the market. As a buyer, both methods are simple to use. GC only requires a credit card to complete the transaction. Both are guaranteed against fraud.
Setting up a Merchant Google Checkout account is a more complicated process, requiring you to create an account and obtaining a "key" consisting of a numerical number which must be used when creating a cart, or using it on a website like ours. Setting must also be changed within your Google account to ensure all payments are processed. It can be a bit daunting if you are unfamiliar with the requirements.
Google Checkout simply serves as a holding place for your credit or debit card information. It allows you to log in to a single Google username to shop, while hiding your valuable data and e-mail address from merchants. If you're selling stuff on a Web site, you can cut and paste some code that lets visitors shop via Google Checkout, which takes a small cut of your sales.
PayPal's fine print is more complicated than Google Checkout's, but PayPal offers a wider variety of services for shoppers and businesses--particularly small ones--to exchange funds. Only PayPal lets shoppers transfer money to or from bank accounts in addition to credit and debit cards, and you can use it to wire money to other people without requiring them to get a paid account. And PayPal is the only way to go if you're shopping around the world. Your financial details remain hidden from stores, but sellers might see your e-mail address.
When Google Checkout fees were significantly lower than Paypal it was worth the "hassle" of going through the process of creating an account with them.
So, why does Yabexe.com offer GC if PP is easier? Because GC is an option that some still want to have available. There are sellers who prefer GC over PP and have a Merchant account in place and operational. There are some buyers who prefer using Google, having had an unpleasant experience with Paypal. We think that people should have the option to offer either, if they can.
Our recommendation for those who want simplicity in selling is to use Paypal. Opening a Business Account is the better option over a Personal Account and you can be enrolled in a matter of minutes. CLICK HEREor the banner below to open your Paypal account, if you do not have one already.

For anyone with a picture editing program, you are likely aware of how to upload a picture. For those who are not computer savvy, uploading a picture is a simple process.
First, know that most digital cameras take pictures that are much to large for uploading, should you attempt to upload them without conversion. We accept pictures no larger than 500Kb in size. (Many newer cameras now allow for resizing automatically - check your features available for your camera).
Should your picture be rejected due to its' file size you can reduce it with an image editing program. Image editing programs allow you to crop, reduce size, change the format, add text, and a host of other features.
Though most image editing programs cost money, there is a free and very capable IEP from Google that is 100% free.
Picasa3 is available for download here and is a simple program to use. We highly recommend it if you are looking for a free IEP.

We want to tell you that Yabexe is long forgotten Native American tribe whose writings, culture, and technology were more advanced than the Aztecs who came along 5000 years after them. We'd like to tell you they are credited with conceiving the concept of an auction.
We want to tell you that because it sounds really good for our website, but we can't.
Yabexe (pronounced: yeh-bek-zee) is simply "ex eBay" spelled backwards. Can't remember the name. Just think about what you are, or what you want to be... an ex-ebay member.
Simply put, other than being less costly, it isn't any different than eBay. Call it a clone, a duplicate, or a mirror image, but the features you find on eBay you will find here at Yabexe.

We also have some things eBay does not:
SWAP OPTION. Willing to swap your auction item for something of the same value? Let people know in your listing and choose the SWAP OPTION.
ANTI-SNIPING. Tired of eBay where with 1 second left someone with a faster computer comes in and steals your purchase out from under you. With our anti-sniping technology if anyone makes a bid in the last few seconds the auction is extended another 2 minutes so that you have time to make another bid if you want.
1 STRIKE AND OUTPOLICY. (Those of us who are honest will love this.) We won't put up with scammers and cheats. eBay may close an account after numerous complaints, but we have a 1 strike policy. If we conclude a buyer or seller did not complete a transaction, or ignores our requests for information, we don't just close the account so they can reappear with a different name and email, as eBay allows - We ban their ISP address. They won't even be able to access the site to view it because their computer has been banned, not just their name.
Yabexe.com began as PoconoBay.com. Originally a medium for people in the area of the Poconos, in
Northeast Pennsylvania to auction, buy, sell, give to one another, and
even list yard sales on one website, without having to use multiple
websites, or worry about being scammed by individuals outside the
United States, or beyond a reasonable traveling distance - which does
happen with such places as Ebay and Craigs list.
PoconoBay.com ran into a major problem with the hostserver on which the website resided. To make a long story short, the owner of the server closed his server down and we had to transfer our website to a new server with little time to do so. Some coding become corrupted and some was lost completely.
The answer was to begin again. This time with a better website and a solid business who would provide our server needs. Where the original website PoconoBay only cost a few hundreds of dollars to run per year and we could offer everything for free, Yabexe.com is far more involved, uses far more resources to run properly, and requires an extreme amount of bandwidth on the Internet. The cost, including advertising will run thousands of dollars per year. For this reason, we can only say that while listings can be made for free on this new site, some features we have had to request a small fee.
However, those fees are far lower than eBay, as you will see in our "Comparison" post.
Reverse auctions are where the roles of seller and buyer are reversed. It is most often used for services, rather than a specific item.
It allows the opportunity for people/businesses to make lower bids on the project or service you need performed.
For instance, you need your driveway black-topped. You would create a listing with all the information about the project you need performed.
You might add such things as: Area Size (length x width) Thickness of Blacktop Completion Date Required Payment Timeline (ie., 1/2 at start, balance at completion) Photos of area Request for References and locations of previous work performed.
This allows you to provide a potential contractor the opportunity to bid on your project. Another contractor may undercut that price for a number of reasons (closer to job site, schedule opening, etc.).
The scenario is that you will get a better price and are not committed to the lowest bidder. You can choose to go with any person who made you a price offer. This is beneficial to the bidders, as well. You may decide you want to go with a bidder because something in his bid information (even though he was higher than the lowest) made you decide so.
The reason is because it has likely been blocked as a "freemail" service. The majority of people (and we are not saying you) who scam use freemail as a means of contact. Though we understand that there are occasions when a freemail address is used (we have more than one for personal use) this website is not one of them.
Your information will never be sold, shared, or given to anyone else. Please use your primary email address when registering.
Currently, the forum is closed. This is a new website and to be honest, the forum would be a lonely place. Most people who join the site do not join the forum. In our past experience, only about 25% of registered users to a website will register on the associated forum. Don't ask us why. A forum is a great place to get some useful knowledge about the main website.
We are holding off making it available until such a time when we feel there are plenty of people to make the forum an active and enjoyable place for people to exchange intelligent thoughts and ideas. When finally opened (it sits ready and waiting) all members will be informed through a newsletter.
A number of reasons. The main one being that we are determined to reduce the cheap Chinese knockoff items that either don't work, don't fit, or aren't as described, from sellers who know that there is little a buyer can do about the situation. Those looking for such items should remain on eBay where they are abundant and the cause of many disputes. Those selling such items should closely read the policies regarding knockoffs and listing rules.
The second reason is that shipping, customs restrictions, and laws regarding items being bought and sold are very similar between both countries. This makes life easier for everyone involved.
Pleas Note: It didn't take long for some from overseas to show up and try to use this site as free doorway to their own websites. Of course, they were removed because their IP address showed their location, but their attempt to divert our visitors is something we ask everyone not to do. Please see our FAQ post regarding use of links and the registration process.
Since we are new we are monitoring the registered users very closely. We feel that participation from residents of the US and Canada will provide more than sufficient activity for a healthy website and will result in less disputes. Our Verified Seller Program is also more reliable with these members.
In time we may add a few other countries, such as England, but for now it will remain more manageable.
Registration Registration is currently open to residents of the U.S. and Canada only. Please do not register if you do not reside in these countries. We track ISPs and registering from outside our accepted countries will only result in you having wasted not only your time, but ours as well, for your ISP will be banned.
All information indicated as "required" during the registration process must be filled out. If you plan on becoming a Verified Seller from us, the information should be accurate.
If you do not see a message indicating a confirmation email has been sent, upon your submission of registration, please check the page for a message that will indicate an error, or lack of information you provided.
Upon receiving the confirmation email simply click the link provided and you will be allowed access to your user area.
Choosing a Username DO NOT use your website name which includes the domain suffix as your username! This is not allowed.
This means if you have a website, "JoeHardware.com", you may create a username of "JoeHardware", but you may not create a username of "JoeHardware.com".
Also, free stores on our website is not intended for people to create links to products located on their own website. We feel this is trying to circumvent our system and simply being done to generate traffic from our site to yours. We are offering a free store. Please don't abuse the freebie.
If you wish to use links in your store you must upgrade to a paid store.
We ask you restrict your advertising to inserts placed in the items you ship, or purchase ad space on our website if you are running a free store.
The free store allows you to place up to 10 items in your own store without a store fee.
As mentioned in the FAQ regarding registration and usernames, there are some restrictions in using the free store.
As with all stores, you can not name it with a domain extension. That is, you can call it "JoeHardware", but you can not name it "JoeHardware.com" (or .net, .org, etc.).
You can not create links that redirect people from your store to another website from which you sell products. We are offering you a free store, not free advertising. Please restrict your promotional methods to inserts added to the items you ship.
If you wish to advertise your own website, please subscribe to a paid store, or contact us regarding display advertising on this website.
Currently, Yabexe has been built to offer only one shipping option for sellers to offer buyers in the menu choices when creating the listing. This will be the default option shown to prospective buyers, but should you wish to offer other options simply state in your listing what other shipping methods you are willing to use and will quote them on request.
Most people will use your default option if you note that other options requested will be a higher cost (if they in fact, are higher).
As we grow we expect that many will have items that don't exactly fit into the categories we have created, or would like a sub-category (or even a sub-sub-category) to be available for their item.
Rather than guess what people want and create categories that might never be needed we simply wait for your suggestion. We can easily add the area you would like.
Contact us with your desire and we will likely add it. If possible, give us the full "tree" and your addition.
Such as, "Yabexe Motors-Boats-Boat Motors-Add "Parts"-Add "Props"
We want to hear suggestions from you! If there is something you think is missing to make our site better, or you are looking for another function to be added we will try, if it's possible.
