Sometimes good deeds don't go unpunished...

Originally, the tab you now see as "Freebies" was our Want Ads section. The idea was that people could list items they were looking for and a seller would contact them, to direct them to a listing, and sell their item through Yabexe. But, human nature being the way it is, we quickly saw the messages in which sellers were making offsite deals, offering their items to the poster of the want ad, completing the deal, and then deleting their listing. The more flagrant and repeat offenders we banned, but it isn't something we wanted to do. Guess the temptation to save an average of 35 cents in fees was just too much for them.

If we were charging a fee for listing the item in the first place this wouldn't bother us so much, but since they listed it for free they must have felt that paying a small percentage of a FVF, if they used Yabexe as agreed, was asking too much.

So, we are going with something we had in our original website early 2009, when were just a local NE PA entity.

We've converted the Want Ads area of Yabexe.com to a Free Ads area.

This is now where you can give away those items you don't want to sell, or just don't want to be bothered, wrapping, packaging, and shipping. Perhaps you think they aren't worth much selling, but somebody could still put it to use (or repair it).

You are more than welcome to list your free items at no cost to you. No listing fee and no Final Value Fee. We only ask that you follow the listing and offering guidelines we have put in place.

Unlike Freecycle, we aren't sponsored by a garbage company with more EPA violations than Doan's has pills. We don't put stipulations on how many items you want to put in a single listing, and you don't have to wait for some anal retentive Moderator to approve your listings, or tell you days later that you have to resubmit it because they found some fault in how you submitted it. You also aren't restricted to a local area where it will be seen. There might actually be someone willing to drive a couple of hundred miles to haul away something you are giving away.
